Kokkinidis Dimosthenis was born in Piraeus in 1929. Having dropped out from the Athens University of Economics and Business, he studied up until 1958 at the Athens School of Fine Arts under Moralis and Papaloukas. As director of the Arts Department of the Hellenic Organisation of Handicraft from 1959 until 1961, he guided pot-makers in Greek islands towards modern productive pathways, always though having the aesthetic quality as his main criterion. He was one of the leading members of “Omada Technis A [Art Group A”]. In 1974 he became a member of the “Group for the Communication and the Education for Art”. He has had individual exhibitions, always expressing something “new” with his material, while he has taken part in many collective exhibitions both in Greece and abroad. In 1976 he was appointed professor at the Athens School of Fine Arts. Together with painting, Kokkinidis has studied and worked in the morphology of objects that are meant to be used.
